Prevalence of psychological symptoms associated to otoneurological ones
Abstract
Purpose: To report the incident of psychological symptoms associated to neurootological symptoms. Method: It had been computed, in absolute and relative data, the complaints, age, gender, neurootological examination results, psychological symptoms and nourish habits in 1041 anamneses of patients from Neurootological and Neurootopsychological Clinic of Universidade Federal de São Paulo – Escola Paulista de Medicina, from January to december, 1999, January to December, 2000 and January to October, 2001. Results: The neurootological symptoms of higher incident were vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, migraine, nausea and vomit. The neurootological associated symptoms were detected in metabolic, hormonal and vascular disturbances. The psychological symptoms were irritability, anxious, depression, fear and memory disturbances. Conclusion: Insomnia had been the isolated symptom of higher prevalence.
