Cochlear implants in children: indication, implantation-age and development
Abstract
The paper reports about hard of hearing children who underwent cochlear implantation.
The hearing loss in all children were detected in early childhood, they were early provided with hearing aids, and had received early hearing education by therapists. Results of surgery and rehabilitation, which was done on an outpatient basis, are discussed in respect to implantation-age, hearing loss prior surgery, cause of hearing loss, auditory and speech development, and speech processor fitting.
