Cortical activity has been analyzed on 238 patients consulting on vertigo and motion sickness, who were studied through Vestibular Cortical Evoked Potentials Mapping, Brain Mapping in rest state and Brain Mapping under 3D Virtual Reality Stimulation.

During the last half century, medical developments have expedited an increase of expectation of life, all over the world. This extension of life has made that some pathologies that in former years were considered of low prevalence, nowadays they have become top priority for public health.

The vestibular pathway, like other sensorial systems, has a cortical representation. In 1985 we have published our first investigation on «Variations of the cortical electrical activity during supramaximal vestibular stimulations».

The tinnitus can be functionally measured and localized through sensorymotor and neurosensorial tests, then there arises a great demand for a systematic pharmacological treatment.

Last year, we have introduced in our laboratory the vestibular evoked potentials (VbEP) as a new test, in order to facilitate the neurootological diagnosis.
