Neurology

Vertigo and migraine

The vascular system and its influence under sympathetic and parasympathetic stimulations plays an essential role in neurophysiology of equilibrium.

The role of subcortical motor neurons in balance disorders- experimental study of the plasticity of the system

Several data indicate that compensation and habituation processes are the main phenomenons of the plasticity of central nervous system (CNS), especially the plasticity of vestibular system. The detailed role of particular parts of CNS in adapatation after lessions has not been clear yet (2). Evertbody knows that in birds and reptiles cerebral motor cortex in […]

Somatosensory potentials evaluation in cervical pathology

It seems to be very interesting to compare the results of the vestibular testing and the somatosensory evoked potentials (SEP) in cases with cervical diseases. This multimodal neurophysiological analysis of the patients suffering from cervical spondylosis before and after neurosurgical treatment is the first part of this long-term study.

Vestibular evoked potentials (vbep): methodological and systematical aspects

The vestibular pathway, like other sensorial systems, has a cortical representation. In 1985 we have published our first investigation on «Variations of the cortical electrical activity during supramaximal vestibular stimulations».

The evaluation of vertebral artery involvement in vertigo by means of a standard echodoppler procedure

The vertebral artery origins from the subclavian artery, moves cranially and penetrates into the “foramen magnum” to meet the cotralateral artery so to origin the basilary artery. The length of the vertebral artery is approx. 25 cm. with a diameter between 3 and 6 mm. In 60% of the normal population, the vertebral arteries don’t […]

The doppler`s ultrasonography in patients suffering from vertigo

The left ventricle is a pump which applies pressure to the circuit on an intermittent way (with each systolic ejection) and sets a pattern of pulsatile flow.

Cortical and brainstem topodiagnostic of tinnitus

The tinnitus can be functionally measured and localized through sensorymotor and neurosensorial tests, then there arises a great demand for a systematic pharmacological treatment.
